Volunteer Opportunities (Also, watch for articles requesting help.)
Parent involvement at Vintage is encouraged.  How often have you asked yourself these questions?

  • Why are there so many pupil-free days?
  • Who makes the dress-code decisions?
  • Who decides what fund-raiser to do and why are we always doing them?
  • What can I do?  I work full time.
  • How can I help make my child's school a great place to be?
  • Does the school really need my help?

All these questions can be answered very easily, but you need to be willing to get involved.  We value your input at Vintage.

Our goal is to make parents a full partner at every level from the vision to the operation of the school. We encourage parents to become involved in school leadership and planning through our school councils, advisory committees and Parent Teacher Association. We invite parents to join volunteer efforts through our room parent program, classroom volunteers and school wide volunteer days.  We strive to keep parents informed through weekly parent workshops, the monthly newsletter, the school website, informational meetings, emails and phone calls.

School Councils
There are many ways for parents to participate in decision making at Vintage. Each year parents are elected to the School Leadership Council (SLC), School Site Council(SSC), the Compensatory Education Advisory Committee (CEAC), the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), and the School Safety Committee. This councils discuss budget, calendar and school policy. They meet each month in the Science Lab after school. All parents are welcome to attend and participate in council meetings whether they are elected members or not.  Please consider getting involved in one of the school councils. We value your input.

What do I have to do?

Attend a meeting once a month as a participant or elected member. These two councils meet to discuss school goals and our plan to reach them. Council members review school budgets and approve the use of school resources.

Attend a monthly evening meeting when you can. Assist with fundraising efforts. PTA helps to pay for field trips, the psychomotor program and school activities.

Become a room parent and serve as liaison between your child’s teacher and the other parents in the class. Set up lines of communication between parents and help teacher organize volunteers and classroom events.

The council consists of parents, teachers and administrators and meets once a month at 3:00 in the school science lab. Look for a flyer reminding you about upcoming meetings.

Other Volunteer Opportunities:

We work every day to create a comprehensive parent involvement program that provides parents with a wide variety of ways to become involved and contribute to their child’s education. We strive to empower all parents with information about every aspect of their child’s school experience.  We believe strongly that this will lead to academic improvement for all students. There are many ways to get involved at Vintage whether you have time to every week or once a month.  Check the school website for

What do I have to do?

Volunteers work with struggling readers by reading with them on a regular basis.  In addition to helping a child in need, parents will learn effective strategies to use with their own children.

Help direct traffic in the carpool lane. Help sign in campus visitors and distribute visitor badges.

Help supervise children playing at recess or lunch time.

Twice a year we hold a School Beautification Day on a Saturday.  We can always use help watering, weeding, trimming all year long.

Help out with copying and clerical work for teachers.

Help make phone calls to parents to coordinate special events and other volunteer activities.

Help your child’s teacher in the classroom.

Parent Center

The Vintage Parent Center is the volunteer hub of Vintage! The Parent Center is located at the opposite end of the building from where the science lab is located. It is a space for parents to meet and work on campus. The Parent Center is staffed by our Community Representatives.  Work is also done in Room 5 workroom.

Everyone is invited to stop by the Main Office to sign in and pick up their volunteer badge before proceeding to the Parent Center.  While at the Parent Center volunteers can enjoy an adult conversation and a warm cup of coffee or tea.  Our Community Representative organizes TAP (Teacher Assistance Program) days. Teachers drop off items they need assistance with.  Some of these items include:  making copies, cutting art projects, putting books together, stapling pages together, and the list goes on.  There are several informational bulletins in the room to help parents.  Young children are always welcome to come with their parents to the Parent Center.  Grandparents and other family members are always welcome to volunteer.

Feel free to contact the office, the principal, or your child's teacher if you have any questions concerning how you can get involved.  You can also stop by the Parent Center or contact the PTA president for more information.  We are more then willing to help you get involved.

Do you have a special skills, hobbies, interest that you can share?

There are many examples of way parents have found a unique way to get involved in the past. Parents with knowledge of construction and landscaping have helped with school beautification. Parents with graphic design and public relation skills have help develop a school brochure. Photography buffs have taken photos to record special events.   And parents with technology skills have helped us set up the school network, website,  and in the computer lab, to name just a few.

Whatever your special talents or skills, please consider putting them to use to make Vintage an even better place for children to come to school.

Bottom Line.... We Need You!

The school district provides us with basics: classrooms, teacher salaries and supplies. If we want to dream of something more for our school, then it requires the vision, creativity and dedication of the Vintage school community.  Thank you for whatever you can do for the school.
