Monday, March 27th, 4th grader, Leo K., sat in the principal's chair and expressed that if he was to make a change at Vintage as principal, he would have classes broken down by subject with students having different teachers for each subject. Leo quickly put to work his expert technology skills preparing a PowerPoint presentation about himself for the Student Award Assembly on Monday. The following Tuesday, 5th grader, Ramiro R., took charge. He made sure the staff was taken care of with coffee and donuts! Leo, gave his replacement, Ramiro, some pointers on preparing Ramiro's PowerPoint presentation for Tuesday's Award Assembly. When asked, Ramiro proposed that if he was principal, he would do away with dress code. Looking very impressive in his dress slacks, vest, and tie, we are sure students would want to follow his trend in attire. A new addition to our PTA Auction was Plant Manager for the Day. Vintage's plant manager, Mr. Wingfield, took 5th grade, Sophia L, under his wing and showed her what it is like to manage a facility, with over almost 900 students and staff, keeping it clean and safe. Sophia cheerfully pitched in where needed to make sure things around the campus ran smoothly and, if there were problems, trouble requests were made to the district, or she fixed them on the spot! Thank you, Leo, Ramiro, and Sophia.
Three very special students, winners at the PTA Auction, experienced, for a day, what it is like to run a school campus. Two students, who won the Principal for the Day, shadowed Principal Mourao as she went through her day working hard to meet the needs of students, staff, parents, and the district.
