December 9th, 2013 Restaurant Night comes to Vintage. You can eat dinner and shop for books at our book fair that evening. The In-N-Out trailer will be at Vintage from 5:30 - 7:30PM. Meal tickets must be purchased before hand and can only be redeemed that night at Vintage. The meal includes one hamburger or cheeseburger, one bag of chips and one drink. Seventy-five per scent of the sales go to Vintage for much needed items and the remaining twenty-five percent will help abused children. So pick up the kids and pick up dinner at the same time and help Vintage and abused children. Thank you for supporting this wonderful event.

We hope to see you back at school Friday night, Nov. 22, 2013 will be Vintage's popular NASA NIght event for Fall. The theme this Fall is STEAM: How Art and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Connect. Our Keynote speaker is Tomasz Stec, Lead Avionics Engineer from Edwards Air force Base and artist. He will be talking about his role as an engineer and how it inspires his art. He will begin speaking at 6PM in auditorium. Arrive early to get a seat.

UPDATE: PTA president, Lorena Hernandez, shared the outcome of our food drive Friday, Nov. 15. YMCA was pleasantly surprised and grateful for the generosity from our Vintage Families for their food donations! This donation opportunity allowed Vintage students to participate in an "act of giving" during this Thanksgiving Season. Vintage PTA is "thankful" for the support of the students, parents and staff for making this happen.

First - 2 Canned Vegetables Second - 1 can Cranberries and 2 Powdered Gravy Packages Third - 1 Box of Stuffing and 1 Container Chicken Broth Fourth - 1 Dessert (non-perishable such as Packaged Cookies, Pudding mix, Jello mix) Fifth - 1 Can Yams and 1 Package Marshmellows If you choose to participate, thank you for supporting this worthy cause! November 18th - December 2nd... Vintage 5th graders are taking orders for See's Candy. See's Candy makes a great holiday gift! Vintage 5th graders are raising funds to attend Science Camp in the spring. If you are interested in placing an order, find a 5th grade student, or stop by the office to place an order. If you don't have a 5th grade student, but want to help them fundraise, pick up an order form in the main office. All order forms and payment are due on Monday, December 2nd. The candy will be delivered to the school December 10th.(estimated date) This is a pre-sale fundraiser, so money needs to be collected and turned in at the time of the order. School Board Member Tamar Galatzan invites you to the Fall 2013 Valley Schools Task Force to learn more about Common Core. What is it? What is the timeline for implementation? How can parents helps children during this transition? Deputy Superintendent of Instruction Jaime Aquino and other top District officials will be on hand to answer parents’ and community members’ questions concerning the Common Core State Standards, Smarter Balanced assessments, and the Common Core Technology Project. Nov. 5, 2013 Fifth graders in Rooms 7 and 8 received a visit from meteorologist Rick Dickert. Mr. Dickert provides the weather, traffic and breaking news from SkyFox during the FOX 11 Morning News and Good Day LA. Early in the morning he circled over Vintage Magnet School in the news helicopter. Vintage students held signs for him to look down on saying how much they loved studying weather. During his visit he told students about the roles he plays as a meteorologists. He also showed them some of the tools he uses. He then taught them about weather and climate some common weather conditions and what causes them. Mr. Dickert's visit was a highlight of the students who are studying about weather.
