October 31st,  2016 (Monday) Fall Festival Activities (Pumpkins & Parade)

10/24/2016

Students will have a chance to participate, Monday, October 31, 2016, in a costume parade at 1:15 PM on the playground.  Parents and other family members are invited to come to watch. (Students have the option to not dress up and to parade or not parade around with their class.) All classes will view the parade (contact the office if you do not wish your child to view the parade).  Students will put their costumes on in the classroom.  Students may not come to school dressed in costume. Costumes must fit over their school clothes. Additional rules regarding costumes can be found in the related flyer that was sent home.  Click below for the flyer.

Pumpkin Patch is an extension of the Fall Festival that all students have an opportunity to participate in.  Here's what to do.  Decorate your own pumpkin at home - be creative - use different materials - make it funny and interesting.  PTA will judge and award ribbons for creativity.  All pumpkins will be display for students to see.  Just bring the pumpkin by 8:00 AM on Monday, October 31st to the Pat Dodge Reading Park located in front of the library.  Make sure to tear-off the lower portion of the flyer and attach it to your pumpkin.  Don't forget to pick up your pumpkin at the end of the day!

Carnegie Science Center Travels From Pennsylvania to Vintage

10/24/2016

Thanks to Gina Ramirez (mother of Viviana in Rm. 19), our school was fortunate to receive a grant from PPG Aerospace for an assembly about aerospace.  The Carnegie Science Center traveled all the way from Pennsylvania to share this great program with our school.  The third and fourth grades experienced an energetic assembly in which they learned about the physic of flight, how flight works, and the four forces: lift, gravity, thrust, and drag.  These concepts were then reinforced through hands-on adventure stations.  Thanks to parent volunteers that manned the different stations, the students were able to rotate and experience ten different demonstrations.  The students had a great time while learning about aeronautics!
