Saturday, September 16th, 2017 was the first of the two campus beautification days to be held at Vintage this school year. These events invite our Vintage community of parents, students, staff, and friends to give our school some tender loving care. What a pleasure it was for students to come back to an improved and much cleaner campus on Monday. The event was held from 9am to 11am. In that short amount of time, it was amazing how much work was done by our industrious volunteers. Unfortunately, due to a commercial being filmed at the front and west sides of the school, we were unable to get to those areas. Nevertheless, so much work needed to be done in other areas we were able to focus and make noticeable improvements both inside classrooms and outside. Vintage thanks all of you that came out or sent in contributions for this event. If you missed this Campus Beautification Event, there will be another one in Spring!

This is an honor given to educators who have established excellence in their school and school's community. The Teacher of the Year program celebrates excellence in teaching by recognizing teachers who inspire a love for learning in their students and who have distinguished themselves in the teaching profession.
Mrs. Wakefield has taught for 18 years. This is her 4th year teaching at Vintage Magnet. She is National Board Certified and has taught grades K, 1, and 2. She is excited and pleased to receive this award. In order to prepare our students to be college and career ready, we are creating a college-going culture at Vintage. The last Friday of each month, Vintage students, staff, and parents may choose to celebrate college awareness by wearing a shirt, sweatshirt or hat from his/her favorite college or university. We will begin Friday, September 28th and continue through May. The class that wears the most college wear will receive Bear Dollars. Show your school spirit and show that you are college ready! If you have any questions, come see Dr. Gonzalez in the office. Thank you!
¡Gracias! Do you like to garden? Do you enjoy growing vegetables and flowers? Does gardening give you a sense of pleasure and accomplishment while getting the benefit of exercise? Do you like sharing your garden knowledge (or want to learn more)? Do you have some time to volunteer at Vintage helping out with garden related activities? We hope you have said YES, YES, YES, YES, YES! Here are some ways you can help:
4th Grade Garden Club (Mondays 10:15 a.m. to 10:35 a.m. - if Monday was rained out or a holiday then we will meet Tuesday same time and place) (meet in school garden near Densmore parking lot) - we could use more adults to work with the 4th grade student volunteers. If your child is not in 4th grade but you would like to help during that time, we will allow your child to also participate with the 4th Grade Garden Club if you are there.) Also, we could use help with general watering, raking, weeding, trimming, etc. throughout the school year - Schedule is flexible as to when you are available. Reminder: LAUSD and Vintages, Volunteers need to follow the volunteer guidelines. Always check in with the office. For more information about the Volunteer Guidelines click the link below: http://www.vintagemagnet.net/school-policies-and-procedures.html#Visitors For any questions, please contact Mrs. Stone at dstone02@lausd.net If you were unable to make the Informational meeting about the New Progress Report presented at Vintage, on September 8, 2018 @ 8:30 a.m. in the Auditorium or want to review the information, please read below: These reports may be downloaded from our Website under Downloadable Documents - Standard School & District Forms or from the links below for your review. TK EL TK EO Grades K-5 EL Grades K-5 EO Why is the Progress Report valuable to you? How does it help your child? “The change to a Standards-Based reporting system comes from the belief that our previous report card and reporting system did not fully communicate what students are expected to know and be able to do, as set forth in the state and national standards.” “This new reporting system will benefit students, teachers, and families.” “It will allow students to be more aware of what is expected of them.” “It will provide families with a more detailed outline of the expectations in each of the major academic areas.” In addition, the district has created an Online E-Learning Course for Parents. This e-learning course is designed for your to understand the new progress report, the reason for the change, and the history of its development. http://www.lausd.net/cdg/DOI/ProgressReporting/M4/story.html Spanish Language Version: http://www.lausd.net/cdg/Nuevoinforme/ Vintage Magnet's Robotics Team received a generous donation of $800 from Hamer Toyota on Sepulveda Blvd. in Mission HIlls, to help fund our Robotics Competition Fees at Mulholland MS. The first competition is September 8th from 4 to 6 p.m. Vintage will have 4 teams participating. These teams were formed last year as a result of the competitions they participated in last year. They have spent many evenings practicing with Parent Coaches in order to prepare for this September competition. The staff and students wish the teams "GOOD LUCK!" in the competition.
