1st Grade Students  Grew, Harvested, and Donated  To MEND

2/8/2019

Twenty-six pounds of pumpkin and acorn squash harvested at Vintage Hope Garden were donated to MEND (Meet Each Need With Dignity).

At the beginning of the school year we planted pumpkins in the new Hope Garden outside 1st grade classrooms. The kids watched the plants get bigger and bigger, make flowers, then finally bear fruit.  Two weeks ago it was time to harvest.

The kids had a blast cutting the pumpkins off the vine.

We wanted our pumpkins to go to needy families, so we chose to donate them to MEND ( Meet Each Need with Dignity).  The kids wrote sweet notes to accompany their pumpkins. Thank you to Mrs. J. Hall for coordinating the note writing.

Nadia and Audrey, with the help of mom, delivered the pumpkins, acorn squash, fresh rosemary and thyme herbs to MEND.
