SBAC Parent  Guide and Sample  Questions

2/4/2016

State Standardized TestingThe standardized test used by the state of California is called the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC).  The testing window for this year’s state standardized test opens up in March.  As we get closer to testing, we will send home information to parents about our testing schedules for each grade.

Our teachers are busy working with students and teaching the Common Core State Standards.  As parents, you can learn what this online assessment is all about by reading the “Parent Guide to the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments: Overview and Sample Questions.”  This Parent Guide contains important information for all parents, including helpful links like:
  • Sample student score reports and how to understand them
  • Practice Tests that you can do online with your child
  • How to support your child at home
Please click on this link and get started.  We need to work as a team to make sure all of our students are confident and successful.

Allergy or a  Cold

2/3/2016

At Vintage we have seen a number of students come through the Nurse's Office suffering with coughs, red-itchy eyes, and runny noses.  The website Pollen.com may provide an insight into what may be causing these symptoms:
Type in the zip code for the area you will be in and check out what pollens and other allergy factors may be occurring at that location.  According to Pollen.com their website provides, "Reliable up-to-the-minute allergy forecasts that show the upcoming airborne allergen conditions in your local environment, Pollen.com prepares you for the day by offering you all the facts - at a glance!"

Want to see what is happening around Vintage Magnet in regards to pollens and other allergens?  Click here to access information for the zip code 91343.
