Every year we evaluate the success of our Magnet Program at Vintage by reviewing student achievement data and getting input from parents, staff, and students. All LAUSD students and families are invited on Saturday, March 5th, 2016, 9AM - 3PM, to Reseda High School for a showcase of LAUSD Programs. Come out and learn what is happening locally in your school district. Learn more about programs for your children. There will be student music, dance, theater performances, fun-runs, food trucks, parent resources, enrichment programs, and lunch for all students. Stop by Vintage's table and say hi! Parents, Relatives, and Friends of Vintage, your participation is requested for this wonderful event that greatly benefits our students and school. We are excited to announce the PTA Silent Auction is coming soon so mark your calendar and join us. Awesome themed baskets of goodies, artwork, and other donated items will be auctioned off.* The funds raised make it possible for Vintage to continue to... have support in our library, computer lab, and science lab; send students on field trips and have special assemblies; provide items that the school needs but might not be able to fund otherwise and much more. By supporting the PTA fundraising events and pooling our funds together, we can provide a wonderful school experience for all our students. Top 10 classrooms raising money for the school will receive an ice cream party. If you have not received a note from your Parent Liaison, email or send a note to the attention of Lorena Hernandez, PTA representative letting her know which room. Each of your contributions makes the basket special and desirable, so please pitch in and contribute. Vintage families and friends, students from all grade levels, please come out and support Vintage's 5th grade Class of 2015. Pencil in "Let's take the family out to the Crunchy Crab" on Thursday, February 25th. Twenty percent of your meal ticket (dine in only) will go back to Vintage. These funds will help with 5th grade culmination activities. All of our students will be 5th graders one day so come out and support this year's 5th grade class.

State Standardized TestingThe standardized test used by the state of California is called the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC). The testing window for this year’s state standardized test opens up in March. As we get closer to testing, we will send home information to parents about our testing schedules for each grade. Our teachers are busy working with students and teaching the Common Core State Standards. As parents, you can learn what this online assessment is all about by reading the “Parent Guide to the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments: Overview and Sample Questions.” This Parent Guide contains important information for all parents, including helpful links like:

Thursday, January 28th, 2016 at 6PM in the Vintage Auditorium a meeting to get more information and sign up for LEGO Robotics will be held. This fun, hands-on experience will incorporate math, science and technology. We will need parents to help coach teams of 2-3 students. Team practices will be held on Thursdays from 6 to 7PM. There may be additional practices set up by the coach. Teams will learn how to design, build and program LEGO robots. Students from grades 3 to 5 are encouraged to join. Younger students may join if accompanied by parents who can provide support. A $40 per student donation is requested (scholarships are available upon request).
