Please Help - PTA Second Semester Direct Donation Appeal to Vintage Families

1/20/2017

Dear Parents and Guardians: The second semester “Direct Donation Appeal” Campaign will run January 18 – February 1st. Our goal is to raise $25,000! 100% of the proceeds go directly to the Vintage PTA to fund Campus Supervision, Classroom Technology, Library and Computer Support, Campus Improvements, Earthquake Emergency & Safety Supplies, and General Support for Vintage.

The suggested donation is $50 per child but what is most important is that 100% of our families contribute what they can to help us reach this goal. We encourage parents to get pledges from businesses, family, friends, or matching donations from companies. So far we have raised $11,478.00 and have 25% of our families contributed.

In return we have come up with the following rewards for your child:
  • If we meet our school wide goal of $25,000 All students will receive free dress.
  • For every $50.00 Contributor DJ Dance Party to be held at lunch
  • For every $25.00 Contributor 2 Vintage Bear Dollars ALL STUDENTS Entered into a raffle drawing for the DJ Dance Party to be held at lunch. (5 Students per grade level)

We thank you for your continued support and participation in Vintage PTA.

Sincerely, Jeannie Doidge, Direct Donation Chairman, Vintage PTA
PTA 15848 Stare Street Vintage Magnet North Hills, CA 91343

Estimados padres y tutores:

Vintage  Magnet Receives Making Movies Grant for 2017 - 4th & 5th Grade Students May Apply

1/9/2017

Vintage Magnet is excited to announce that Vintage was selected to participate in Councilman Mitchell Englander’s ”Making Movies that Matter (MMtM) Youth Short Film Festival” for our 2nd year.  This free, unique art program partners participating schools with an experienced film making Artists-in-Residence (AIR) who will teach students the basics of filmmaking and the art of storytelling.  Students will experience shooting videos using an iPhone and editing in iMovie creating original films in four possible categories: animation, documentary, public service announcement and live action. Working in small groups, Vintage’s goal this year is to submit 4 movies.

Vintage will be accepting applications (see attachment – Due Monday, January 16th) from interested 4th and 5th grade students.  Space is limited to 24 students. Students who participated last year are encouraged to apply again but are not guaranteed a spot. Parents and students will be notified by January 20th via email and a letter home if selected to participate.  The first meeting is Tuesday, January 24th.

Students will need to commit to:

·    Returning the completed application and returned it on or before Monday, January 16th  - late submittals will not be accepted.
·    Meeting twice a week: Tuesdays 1:38 to 2:38 and Wednesdays 2:45  to  4:45.
·    Collaborating with a team to create the movie
·    Attending one evening meeting at the Apple Store in Northridge Mall*
·    Attending the Movie Premier at CSUN in the evening in spring (date to be announced)*
·    Completing a photo/video permission form

Vintage’s goal is to produce four, short (3 1/2 min. or less), movies that address social issues (i.e., ecology, relationships, issues that affect students, etc.). These movies will be submitted to the MMtM Film Festival competition and winning submittals will be shown at the spring film festival at the Valley Performance Center on the Cal State University, Northridge, campus (CSUN).  For more details visit online:  http://cd12movies.com/.

If you have any questions, you may contact, Mrs. Stone, at dstone02@lausd.net or Mrs. Mourao in the school office.
