![]() Vintage students, grades K through 5th, participated in a the Hour of Code event. Hour of Code is a global movement introducing millions of students in 180 plus countries to computer coding. It is designed to demystify coding so that anybody can learn it. The Hour of Code is organized by Code.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding participation in computer science by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented students of color. A coalition of partners have come together to support the Hour of Code, too — including Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the College Board. The dates of December 8 through 12 was picked to be the official week for students worldwide to try coding. At Vintage, we participated during that week in addition to trying CODE.org activities at our Fall NASA night and also during Techie Tuesdays. Overall, students enjoyed the challenge of using the CODE.org puzzles to understand the process of computer coding. Many students excitedly discovered that they have a real knack for coding. From the photos below, you can see they are very engaged in the activities. Learn more about this wonderful opportunity by visiting CODE.org or clicking the links we have chosen.
