GIRLS BASKETBALL
Vintage has been playing in the annual after school tournament that has over 200 school entries from the San Fernando Valley. Both teams entered the final round of the Valley Regional Finals with a 5-0 record respectively.
This past Saturday (December 5) the girls basketball team needed 3 wins to be called champions. After 2 wins, they knew that they were 1 win away from becoming the only girl’s team to ever win a championship in Vintage History! The game began, it looked like it was not going to be easy. As the game started to run out of time, Vintage managed to take care of their lead and win by 2 points! The girls ran to their coach with excitement and joy as they were happy to say “We are the champions!”
BOYS BASKETBALL
Right after the girl’s game, the boys’ basketball team congratulated the girls as they too had a goal in mind to win first place as well. They too had very dramatic games to get to the final championship game.
Lemay Vs Vintage was a classic game like the Lakers/Celtics as both teams wanted to win and were playing really well. The game goes to over time and Vintage is losing by 4 points when Christian M. hits a 3 pointer to keep it close and Gavin M finds a way to steal the ball and score again. Vintage was now winning by 1 point as the time ran out and they too ran to their coach in disbelief to see that they won the championship game!
All the hard work that the boys and girls had put paid off, and they showed the world that Vintage is the Best! All the support from the parents and staff helped and are very fortunate to say they are the Boys & Girls Valley Champions of Basketball.
