As the new Principal at Vintage Magnet, I am eager to meet all of you and to facilitate our work of preparing students for the 21st Century with a student-centered, thinking curriculum. I am forever grateful for the kindness that you have shown me. I know how hard you have worked and I will continue to facilitate your spirit of collaboration and commitment to improving student achievement. I have worked in the district for over twenty years, as an Instructional Coach, Teaching and Learning Observer, and classroom teacher. I am a teacher at heart and focused my work on building teacher capacity, involving parents as equal partners, and communicating to all stakeholders our student achievement goals and to students, their role in monitoring their learning. Our instructional priorities this year are teaching the Common Core Standards, supporting teacher growth through the “Teacher Growth and Development Cycle”, and monitoring our performance targets through reflection on formative assessments. I welcome parental involvement and participation in school councils, parent workshops, conferences, and family events. Your partnership is essential to improving student achievement. Most importantly, I assure you that student safety is a priority. I will work with all stakeholders to make sure that systems are in place to ensure students are provided with a safe, respectful environment for learning. I am truly excited about this opportunity to work with you. I look forward to learning from each of you and working collaboratively in creating the most effective instructional environment for all of our students. Sincerely, Ms. Nancy Mourao |
