Through a power point presentation, Mrs. Rogan share with the students where her ideas came from for both her characters and setting of the story. She talked about how music can inspire ideas and showed the process that an author has to go through to have their book edited and published. Mrs. Rogan autographed books for the students and then they enjoyed "Blackberry Ale" and "Lady Furball's Gingerbread Cake" for refreshments. Mrs. Rogan, in honor of her English heritage, was treated to a proper english tea party for lunch. An amazing time was had by all!
Fourth and Fifth grade students enjoyed a visit and presentation from author S. Jones Rogan on Tuesday, June 3rd. All students that participate in one of Mrs. Forbes' reading groups, had the wonderful privilege of meeting the author of the book they have been reading,"The Daring Adventures of Penhaligon Brush". This adventure story with a sequel, "The Curse of the Romany Wolves", has become an all time favorite of 42 kids at Vintage. To hear from the author who penned this classic was a huge highlight for the students. Adorable and ready for first grade, Mr. Rayas' and Mrs. Hall's kindergarten students charmed the audience of parents, family members, friends, and staff with a darling performance on Thursday, June 5, 2014, filled with singing and poetry. Kindergarten students were introduced in a precious video slide show which highlighted what they want to be when they grow up. They weren't afraid to dream big. Some futures included being a dentist, race car driver, and mermaid! Click here to enjoy some photos from that very special performance.

Mrs. Miller has been a long time presence around Vintage when her two sons attended Vintage. Nine years ago, she became one of those wonderful parents in pitched in and helped where needed including being a PTA President. Her love for science led her to be our science lab aide. She also ran a science club during recess. Upon leaving Vintage, she plans to relax and look into working on her Master's Degree.
Mrs. Miller expresses that she will miss everyone at Vintage, especially the kids. She loved watching their 'ahhhhh' moments when they made discoveries and learned how things worked. She wishes, Mrs. Balkcom, who will move from classroom aide to Science Lab aide next year, a wonderful experience in the Science Lab. Vintage Magnet's much anticipated Spring NASA Night took place on Friday evening, May 30th, 2014. Students, parents, and staff alike look forward to these fun expo-like NASA Nights that celebrate the love of science, technology, engineering, and math. Vintage is honored to have such knowledgable presenters and participants. This night, the keynote speaker was chief meteorologists, Josh Rubenstein, from CBS 2 and KCAL 9. The audience learned that his love of science and becoming a pilot led him to study the field of meteorology. Weather is a popular focus at Vintage as our fifth grade Student Team Of Reporters and Meteorologists (STORM group) report on the weather in weekly videos and over the PA daily during the school year.* After his presentation, students, and families had an opportunity to personally meet and ask Mr. Rubenstein additional questions and to take photos. We thank Mr. Rubenstein for making this evening a memorable experience for our school.
The evening didn't stop there. Vendors were available for refreshments - Fratelli's Pizza, Kettle Corn, Shaved Ice - to fuel the attendees as they visited the many presenters set up around campus. Additionally, a reception was held for Science Fair finalists and their families. Presenters NASA NIght - Spring 2014 - A big THANKS!
