Thursday, May 23, 2019 the staff at Vintage held a luncheon of homemade goodies to show their appreciation. Here at Vintage, we have so much of which to be appreciative. Our parents and Vintage community members participation in making Vintage a better place for students to be is high on our list. Again, we know that everyone has so many demands on their time. Therefore, we are so happy to see volunteers giving of their precious time and labor. We hope you all continue to find Vintage a welcome place to volunteer whether it is for a few hours or regularly. On May 31st, 2019, we are pleased to present Spring NASA Night 2019 to conclude this wonderful year of learning here at Vintage Magnet School. This evening's keynote speaker is Dr. Timothy Weise, the Mars InSight Deputy Mission Manager at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Seating is limited, so arrive early. The presentation will start promptly at 6PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to expose our students to STEM professionals.
Fratelli's Pizza and Menchie's will be sold from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. So enjoy dinner here on campus relaxing with fellow students and families. Take advantage of meeting and talking with STEM industry presenters: Cyberpatriot, Del-Air Rockhounds Club, Aerojet Rocketdyne, Heal the Bay, Valley Flyers, Sylvan, VEX IQ Robotics, and more. Vintage Magnet Robotics team wins Inspire Award at VexIQ World Championship held in Kentucky April 28 - 30, 2019! When the judges called our team number, holding the large trophy, we could hardly believe it! The Inspire Award for Vintage Robotics, on the highest stage, at the 2019 Vex IQ World Championship in Louisville Kentucky. We won! The experience was amazing for our delegation of robot drivers Malik, Nadia, Ethan, Austen, Pedro, Oeden, KC and Nico, research project assistant Isai, Coach Nolasco and Mrs. Mourao, and the family members that come to cheer them on. Many other team members that helped with parts of the projects in the early phases of the team were cheering from home. Eleven people in our delegation signed-up to volunteer to work in the event and help out. "Worlds: started with the Parade of Nations. We did not expect to be in the Parade of Nations but we were more than thrilled to get the bracelets that indicated we could participate. “Look around, take it all in . You made it. You represent the best and brightest VEX IQ roboticists in the World! said Mr Grant Cox, 2019 Chairman of the Vex Federation. That was such an amazing experience for the Vintage team members that were right behind the flag bearer for the United States as they walked into Freedom Hall for the parade. Vintage's teachers and staff want to thank all of you for making us feel your love and appreciation. The lovely assortment of sweet and savory pastries, fruit, and chocolates were such a treat. Thank you also for the thoughtful supplies and treats in the adorable hero bags. PTA volunteers deserve a big hand in making this all happen. Dear Vintage Community, Please join us on Thursday, May 16, 2019 for our annual Open House. Teachers and students are excited to share work done this yer and show off their school. Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading: Set the example. Let children see you read. · Have a collection of books in your home. Update this collection routinely to keep up with changing tastes and reading skills. · Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read. Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits. Book Fair dates: Monday May 13 – Friday May 17.
