We know we’ve already asked you to do a tremendous amount of fundraising this year, however we need your help one last time this school year. Our computer lab is in dire need of updated computers to support our technology program and we need your help to raise these funds. Vintage will be hosting a Spell-A-Thon on Friday, May 16. Here’s how you can help... Pledges—Students in grades 1, 2, 3, 4 will participate and raise money for the Spell-A-Thon by collecting pledges. Pledges can be “per word” or “flat” donations. We encourage each child to ask only people he/she knows for pledges. Your child is not required to have pledges in order to participate. We accept cash or checks made payable to Vintage Student Body. Below you’ll find a link to the pledge sheet for the Spell-A-Thon. Pledge sheets are due on Friday, May 16. After your child participates in the Spell-A-Thon, your child will collect his/her pledges/donations and return them to school in the enclosed envelope by Friday, May 23. The 1st - 3rd and 4th grade class that raises the most money will receive an ice-cream party! Thank you in advance for all of your generosity and support! Computers and technology are going to be critical components of the new Common Core curriculum over the coming years. It is imperative that we have a state-of-the-art computer lab to ensure our students meet all of the expectations of the Common Core State Standards. Below are links to important fliers detailing this event. One class from grades 1-3 and one class from grade 4 will receive an ice cream party. Pledges/donations will be collected after the Spell-A-Thon and due by Friday, May 23. Fifth grader, Klara, tried her hand at writing a script and directing a video to encourage students to join Vintage's LEGO Robotics Club. She was joined by friends in the "STORM group" that meets before school. They starred in the video. Using an iPad, a Flip camera, green screen, and iMovie, Klara produced the video below. Enjoy! NOTE: LEGO Robotics Club for the 2013-2014 school year has already begun. Watch for announcements next school year's session and join in. A new principal was on campus today. She quickly made her presence know around campus. First thing in the morning, to break the ice with staff, Ms. Moorman, offered them donuts. That move certainly sweetened the day. But there was much work to get done as a principal starting with working on a Powerpoint presentation for this month's award assemblies. In between running the awards assemblies, Ms. Moorman made the rounds of classrooms meeting teachers and students. Like most seasoned principals, she could be found eating her lunch at her desk. Wanting to make a positive contribution to Vintage, Ms. Moorman used her power as principal to extend recess by five minutes. As expected, that decision made her a winner with Vintage's students. April 4th, 2014 PTA rounded up a herd of fun loving families who came together in a neighborly manner to help raise funds to support Vintage's programs and services. Students, family members, friends, and staff ate some great grub then moseyed on over to watch 1st and 4th grade students perform a variety of traditional dances from around the world. The fun continued as the auditorium filled with mighty generous folk who bid for a variety of gift baskets, teacher events, culminations seats, and storage war boxes. The evening saw a lot of exciting bidding as bidders competed to come up with the winning bid. Click here to check out photos from this wonderful event.
Thank you PTA for all the hard work you put into making this event happen. |
