On Friday, January 22 Rooms 25 and 26 (Kindergarten) enjoyed lettuce wraps and snap peas fresh from their garden plot. Students each picked a lettuce leaf. Groups of students then helped wash, rinse and spin dry the leaves. Ms. Lisa, Mrs. Wakefied, Mrs. Mcelroy, and Mrs. Stone helped. Sliced turkey and cheese was wrapped in the lettuce leaves and topped off with Ranch Dressing. Students then took a big bite, most exclaiming how wonderful their lettuce wrap was. Next, a snap peas, pod and all, was dipped and eaten. Students loved their fresh snacks that they helped grew.
In December 2015 before we left for break, our 4th Grade Garden Club members also enjoyed making and eating lettuce wraps. Eating food grown themselves was exciting for them and they all agreed that the food seemed to taste so much better than that bought in the store.
Below are some links of photos taken from those events. Enjoy!
